India's renewable energy sector is robustly advancing towards achieving 500 GW capacity by 2030. As of 2024, the nation has installed 185 GW, thanks to major contributions from solar, wind, hydropower, and bioenergy. Supportive initiatives, such as the National Green Hydrogen Mission and Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, bolster domestic production. The sector, employing over 1.2 million people, contributed 6% to India's GDP in 2023.

India is emerging as a global leader in clean energy.

Hydropower is the largest employer in the sector.

The government actively pursues the development of green hydrogen policies to reduce costs and attract investments in the emerging sector.
